I’ve been a cat mom as long as I can remember. I haven’t always recognized the benefits of life with a cat, but as time goes on I have started to realize the value they add to my life.
What is the life of a cat? It typically includes food, hours of rest, and lots of self-care. When thinking about the pillars of my own life, those are three areas I would like to prioritize. Cats can teach us a thing or two about how we can live our lives.
Life with a cat is also like having a built-in best friend. Cats can comfort us, help us relax, but also need their alone time and have strict boundaries. Cats teach us to respect the boundaries of others, although I hope your friends aren’t biting you when you annoy them! The friendship may not last your entire lifetime, but it does last their entire lifetime, so make it count.
Cats have been around for 10-12 million years. They have so much history that we can learn from, and estimates are that cats were first domesticated in Ancient Egypt. Although it is said nobody truly owns a cat, by sharing our lives with a cat we are taking part in history. And I don’t want to imagine life without a cat!
